Volunteer with Us!

At Leavenworth County Humane Society, Inc., volunteers are at the heart of our work. From caring for the animals to supporting fundraising efforts, we rely on passionate individuals like you to help transform the lives of pets in need.

Our Most Critical Need:
Daily Animal Care Volunteers

Our top priority is finding volunteers to help with daily animal care. Key tasks include:

- Providing food, fresh water, and lots of love to the pets.

- Cleaning the kennels, litter boxes, and shared spaces.

- Exercising dogs through walks and playtime.

- Socializing the pets and ensuring their happiness.

This work is tough, but incredibly rewarding! The dedication of volunteers ensure that each animal is happy and healthy while they await adoption!

Who Can Volunteer?

Adults (18+) may volunteer independently or support a teenage volunteer.

Teens (12-17) can volunteer with a parent or guardian. Anyone  who is 12+ is able to volunteer with the cats, but you must be 16+ in order to volunteer with the dogs.

When Do We Need You?

We offer daily volunteer shifts for both dogs and cats with mid-day and evening options available. Shift length can vary, but will typically last 2-3 hours based on the needs of the pets.

We need dependable volunteers with the ability to commit to 2 shifts a month! Having a consistent, reliable team helps us provide the pets with the best possible care. However, you are always welcome to volunteer more often!

Other Ways To Volunteer:

We also need volunteer support with..

- Transporting Animals: Taking pets to their vet appointments or assisting in a transfer to other facilities.

- Fundraising & Events: Supporting community events and fundraising efforts.

- Facility Support: Assisting with daily tasks like laundry, dishwashing, sweeping, and basic maintenance to help keep the shelter in tip-top shape.
